MRS. LYNDA JACQUELINE “JACKIE” (BUTLER) STRICKLAND, age 83, of Chester, GA, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at her residence.
MRS. LYNDA JACQUELINE “JACKIE” (BUTLER) STRICKLAND, age 83, of Chester, GA, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Craig Minor and Rev. Larry Wilbanks officiating with interment in Orphans Cemetery.
Jackie was born on August 18, 1942, in Eastman, GA, and was of the Baptist faith. She was a 1960 graduate of Dodge County High School and studied at Middle Georgia College. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Pine Level Freewill Baptist Church. Jackie was a secretary for the director of store operations at Stuckey’s, Inc. for several years and was a homemaker for her family. She was a real estate broker in the 1990s and was owner and operator of Strickland Appraisals during her time living in Dublin, GA before returning to Dodge County in 2001. Mrs. Strickland served as the director of the Senior Citizens Center for 8 years in the 2000s. She was a pianist and a piano teacher for over 15 years. Jackie was a dedicated wife of 52 years and a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Strickland loved spending time with her family, enjoyed knitting and was a master gardener. She was the daughter of the late Avis Christine Mullis Butler and Earnest Edward Butler and was preceded in death by her Husband, Charles R. Strickland, Sr., granddaughter, Harlee Rae Strickland, and several Sisters-in-law and Brothers-in-law.
She is survived by her 2 Sons – Charles R. “Chuck” Strickland, Jr. (Erica) of Cochran and Kevin R. Strickland (April) of Eastman; Grandchildren – Charles Jacob Strickland (Hannah) of Jacksonville, FL, Anna Paige Strickland Carter (Matt) of Tallahassee, FL, and John Dylan Strickland of Eastman; Great Grandchildren – Jed Strickland, Josie Strickland, Jackson Carter and baby Luke Carter (coming in August); Brother - Ray Butler (Teresa) of Eastman; Several Nieces and Nephews including Ron Butler (Donya), Jon Butler (Courtney), Tonya Mitchell (Jim), Danny Cannington (Vicki), John Veal (Robyn), and Bobby Massingill (Sharon); Devoted Caregivers – Sandy Morgan, Louann Charlovich, Emily Dorris, Carolyn Lockett, and Shamiya Lockett; Numerous Cousins and Friends.
The family may be contacted at the Strickland residence, 2863 Plainfield Road, Chester, GA 31012 and will receive friends from 1:00PM-2:00PM before services Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in Southerland Funeral Chapel. In addition to flowers, the family requests contributions to Pine Level Freewill Baptist Church, in care of Sue Lindsey, 1187 East Chicken Rd., Chester, GA 31012.
