MR. JOHN TIMOTHY “J.T.” WOODARD, SR., age 96, of Chauncey, GA, died Monday, March 4, 2019 at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Thursday, March 7, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Paul Cowles, Dr. Jerry Peele, and Rev. Mike Grenade officiating, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.

 Mr. Woodard was a lifelong resident of Dodge County, a graduate of Chauncey High School, a member of Eastman First Baptist Church, a former member, deacon, and song leader of New Union Baptist Church, and a lifelong farmer and businessman. He was a member of the Eastman Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow, a member of the Board of Directors of Ag Georgia for over 30 years, a former soil conservation man of the year and a Rotarian farmer of the year award recipient. For many years in the 1950s he refereed basketball games. He was son of the late Sally Sandiford Woodard and Philip Hansel “P.H.” Woodard, widower of Margaret Stanley Woodard, and was preceded in death by 5 Sisters, Ann Davis, Jessie Hodges, Minnie Pitts, Trellie Shepherd, and Ernestine Yoder, and 3 Brothers, Bill Woodard, Woodrow Woodard, and Walter Woodard.

 Survivors: 2 Daughters – Connie W. Robinson and Cheryl W. Walker (Henry) both of Eastman; 2 Sons – John T. Woodard, Jr. (Brenda) and Danny Woodard (Karen) both of Chauncey; 13 Grandchildren – Tim Woodard (Selena), Jeff Woodard, Sherri Grooms (Marc), Brian Robinson (Sheree), Tim Robinson, Brad Robinson (Jessica), Dan Woodard (Michelle), Jennifer Hardin (Dana), Matt Walker (Keisha), Drew Walker, Meg Reed (Joseph), Jody Warren (Jason), and Ellen Brown (Ritchie); 22 Great-Grandchildren; 4 Great-Grandchildren; Sister-in-Law – Jewel Woodard; Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

 The family may be contacted at the Woodard residence, 4555 Chauncey-Dublin Hwy., Chauncey, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 1:00PM-2:00PM Thursday, March 7. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Hospice Care Options Foundation, 718 Medical Center Drive, Eastman, GA 31023 or Gideons International Bibles.
