MR. JOHN RICHARD “J.R.” MOORE, JR., age 76, of Chauncey, GA, died Friday, December 11, 2020 at his residence.

 Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM Monday December 14, 2020 at Sweet Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Chauncey with Rev. Mike Grenade officiating.

 Mr. Moore was a lifelong resident of Chauncey and was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church. He worked in maintenance for over 20 years for Standard Candy Company and was a retired maintenance supervisor of the Georgia State Prison System. He worked at Telfair State Prison and Milan State Prison for over 20 years and was owner and operator of Moore’s Small Engine Repair. He was a dedicated husband and a loving father and grandfather, who enjoyed farming, hunting, and loved being outdoors. Mr. Moore was a talented mechanic who never met a task he could not handle. He was pleasant to be around, always upbeat, and helpful to everyone. J.R. was the son of the late John Richard Moore and Vesta Jones Moore and was preceded in death by his Wife of 54 years, Dorothy Lee Moore, Grandson, Jonathan Daniel Cook, and 4 Siblings, Sara Wahl, Johnny Moore, David Moore, and Randall Moore.

 He is survived by 2 Daughters – Denise M. Brown (Gary) and Robin M. Cook, both of Eastman; 6 Grandchildren – Phillip Brown (Kayla) of Bonaire, Katie Brown, Evan Brown, Jordan Cook, Nathan Cook and Leah Cook, all of Eastman; 2 Great-Grandchildren – Rylie Brown and Ethan Brown, both of Bonaire; 3 Sisters-in-law – Idonia Moore of Alamo, Faye Green (Bailey) and Lillian Dixon, both of Eastman; 2 Brothers-in-law – Dennis Dixon (Annette) of Sylvester and Jack Wahl (Connie) of Chauncey; Several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

 The family may be contacted at the Moore residence, 124 Sweet Home Church Road, Chauncey. Mr. Moore will lie in state from 1:00PM-4:00PM Sunday December 13, in Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions to Gideons International Bibles or the Dodge County Baptist Association, 307 King Street, Eastman, GA 31023 .
