MRS. IRENE ANN CORTEZ HICKMAN, age 80, of Eastman, GA, died Monday, April 17, 2023, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, GA.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
Irene was born in San Luis Obispo, CA and later moved to Eastman, GA. She was a member of Freedom Worship Center and worked for many years as a nursing and teachers’ aide. She was a loving mother and grandmother who had a tremendously large heart. This was never more evident that her willingness to foster over 52 children during her time living in California. She enjoyed remodeling homes, designing clothes, and was a fantastic seamstress. Irene was the daughter of the late Victoria Nevarez Cortez and was preceded in death by her Daughter, Dianne Hickman, Son, Randy Hickman, Grandson, Eli Hickman, 2 Brothers and 6 Sisters.
She is survived by her 4 Sons – Harrell Hickman, Jr. (Rene), Darrell Hickman, Michael Hickman (Janice), all of Eastman, and Jeffrey Hickman (Irma) of Santa Maria, CA; 13 Grandchildren – Tony Hickman (Brittany), Matthew Hickman, Karena Sanders, Ashley Street (Corey), Ashley Hickman, Jeffrey Hickman, Jr., Ali Hickman, Haley Hickman, Emily Hickman, Kayla Hickman, Justin Hickman, Alex Hickman, and Marie Hickman; 7 Great-Grandchildren – Haylie Hickman, Hayden Barlow, Harlie Hickman, Hope Miller Hickman, Angel Hudson, Darius Knight, and Harvey Knight; Several Nieces and Nephews.
