MR. GREGORY STEVEN “GREG” HOWELL, age 60, of Eastman, Georgia, left this world behind to be with Jesus and his Daddy on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins.
MR. GREGORY STEVEN “GREG” HOWELL, age 60, of Eastman, Georgia, left this world behind to be with Jesus and his Daddy on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Rev. Tim Moorhouse and Mr. Wayne Graham officiating.
Mr. Howell was born in Eastman and was a 1978 graduate of Dodge County High School. He was a faithful and active member of Eastside Baptist Church of Eastman where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, sound room worker, choir member, and monthly speaker at Dogwood Garden Senior Living. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he enlisted on the delayed entry program while still attending high school. During his time in service, he trained in Orlando, Florida, and in Fallon, Nevada, before serving three years as an aviation ordinance man at his base of operations at the China Lake Naval Weapon Center in Ridgecrest, California. Greg later earned a certificate in Tool and Die from Valdosta Technical Institute. He worked jobs at Roydonwear in McRae, ITT Thompson in Adel, LeRoy International in Valdosta, Wellington-Cook in Adel, Graphic Packaging in Eastman, Husquevarna in McRae and most recently worked at Trane Residential Systems in Vidalia.
Mr. Howell took great joy spending time with and taking care of his family. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog football and NASCAR Racing fan. He spent many years swinging a softball bat in South Georgia but most recently filled his hours working outdoors, tending to the animals, hunting, and playing video games with his son, Dalton. Greg was son of the late Frank Howell, Jr. who preceded him in death a few days prior to his passing.
He is survived by His Wife of 19 years – Anna Exum Howell of Eastman; 2 Daughters – Amy Mullis (Jason) and Amber Howell Horne, both of Eastman; Son – Dalton Howell of Eastman; 5 Grandchildren – Michaela Mullis, Cameron Mullis, Gabriel Horne, Jenna Kate Mullis, and Raegan Horne; Mother – Frances Woodard (J.T.) of McIntyre; Mother – Dena Harrelson Howell of Eastman; 3 Brothers – Bruce Hartley (Lisa) and Billy Hartley (Gwen), both of Eastman, and Scott Dukes of McIntyre; and numerous nieces and nephews.
