MR. A. GREGORY “GREG” HARVEY, age 68, of Eastman, GA, died Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, GA.

  Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, April 4, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Bishop Tim Chatman officiating and Mr. Shane Preston assisting, and the family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 10:00AM-11:00AM before services. A committal service will be held at 4:00PM Monday, April 4, at Speedwell United Methodist Church Cemetery, Millet Rd., Millet, SC 29836.

 Greg was born Reidsville, GA, and later moved with his family to Allendale, South Carolina where he was a 1971 graduate of Allendale Fairfax High School. He later attended Reinhardt College and graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Criminal Justice. He also earned his master’s degree from Mercer University and another master’s degree from Columbus State University. After graduating from Georgia Southern, he went to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington DC, before moving to Columbia, South Carolina where he went to work for the Columbia Police Department. In 1983, he moved to Georgia to begin his career at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, where he worked until his retirement in 2011. Greg attended Dublin Bible Church, was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved animals, was a great storyteller. He enjoyed his daily breakfast meetings with his friends at the Huddle House in Eastman. He was the son of the late Matra Ann Stubbs Harvey and Calvin Harvey.

 He is survived by his Wife – Bonita Radford Preston-Harvey of Dublin; 3 Step-Children – Shane Preston (Ashley), Keith Preston (Brianna), and Suzanne Lake (Matt), all of Dublin; 13 Grandchildren; Sister – Pam A. Harvey of Barnwell, SC; 2 Brothers – Albert C. Harvey (Frieda) of Beaufort, SC and Andy Harvey of Millett, SC; Nieces and Nephews – Bert Harvey, Farah Morris, Andrea Gallahue, Mickey Faircloth, and Shane Harvey; Extended Family Members – Tim and Paula Vaughn, Will Vaughn, and Tana Vaughn, his law enforcement family and Numerous Friends.

 The family may be contacted at the Preston-Harvey residence, 2417 U.S. Hwy. 441 South, Dublin, GA, 31021. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faithful Hearts Animal Shelter, 77 Industrial Blvd, Eastman, GA 31023, or the Dublin- Laurens County Humane Society, 618 Firetower Rd, Dublin, GA 31021.
