MRS. GLORIA ANN PIPER SMITH, age 72, of Eastman, GA, died Saturday, September 12, 2020 at her residence.

 Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, September 15, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Greg Lowery officiating.

 Gloria was born in Dodge County and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cadwell. She was a homemaker and a former textile worker and spinner at Reeves Brothers Cotton Mills. For over 40 years she was a daycare provider in her home and helped raise many children in Dodge County. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley, enjoyed reading, watching TV, and being a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, talking with them daily and watching scary movies. Gloria was the daughter of the late Jewel Coogler Piper and Elton Piper, widow of Billy R. Smith, and was preceded in death by a Son, Terry Dean Gilliam, Great-Granddaughter, Paula Nicole Gilliam, and Siblings, Kemple Pittman, Evelyn Hamlin, Alma Newman, Syble Bryan, Bonnie Piper, Clinton Piper, Willene “Dolly” Brack, Lanier Piper.

 She is survived by her Daughter – Penny Smith Shelton (Jerry) of Eastman; Son – Brian Smith (Brandy) of Hawkinsville; 7 Grandchildren – Rebecca Gilliam Freeman (Jeremy), Caitlin Sheffield, Colette Shelton, Logan Smith, Hayden Smith, Savannah Smith, and Breenna Smith; 5 Great-Grandchildren – T.J. Gilliam, Cameron Gilliam, Aroura Sheffield, Terry Sheffield, and Asher Sheffield; 2 Brothers – Melton Piper (Margaret) and Dempsey Piper both of Eastman; Brother-in-law – Edward Brack of Thomaston; 4 Sisters-in-law – Emily Smith Harrell Woodard (Jerry), Jackie Barton, Marjorie Smith, and Ann Piper; Several Nieces and Nephews.

The family may be contacted at the Smith residence 5416 Cottondale Avenue, Eastman. Mrs. Smith will lie in state at Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home from 10:00AM until 4:00PM, Monday September 14.
