MRS. GERRY BACON TAYLOR, age 55, of Eastman, GA, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Dodge County Hospital.
MRS. GERRY BACON TAYLOR, age 55, of Eastman, GA, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Dodge County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, October 6, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Mike Grenade and Rev. Jeffrey Wyatt officiating, with interment in Ocmulgee Cemetery.
Gerry was born in Dublin, GA, on November 4, 1970, to Edward Bacon and Clara Mae Powell Bacon. She was a 1989 graduate of Dodge County High School, of the Baptist Faith, and attended Lovely Grove Baptist Church. She married the love of her life, Lee Taylor, on June 18, 1994, and enjoyed thirty-two wonderful years of marriage. She was blessed with two children and made many happy memories with her family over the years. She worked for the United States Postal Service for over twenty years at several post offices including Wrightsville, Scotland, Rhine, Milan, Chauncey, and most recently, for the Helena-McRae office, where she was the office manager and clerk. Gerry was a dedicated wife, and a loving mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She loved thrift shopping finding treasures at every flea market, playing with her nieces and nephews, and taking care of her family and her pet chickens. She especially loved taking trips to the North Georgia Mountains, specifically to Hiawassee, with her husband, family, and friends. It was her and Lee’s special place where they spent the better part of fifteen years perfecting their mountain getaway.
Gerry was preceded in death by her father, Edward Bacon, daughter, Laura Leigh Taylor, sister-in-law, Mitzi Taylor Studstill, and a niece, Candice Taylor.
She is survived by her Husband – Lee Taylor of Eastman; Son – Walt Taylor (Jade Hamilton) of Waycross; Mother – Clara Mae Powell Bacon of Eastman; Sisters – Cindy Nelson (Clint) and Teresa Sanders (Chris), both of Eastman; Sisters-in-law and Brothers-in-law – Fay Reich (Tim) of Hawkinsville, Jay Studstill of Dublin, and Clarence Taylor (Lori) of Eastman; Nieces and Nephews – Jason Studstill (Annie), James Studstill, Calla Taylor, Caitlin Hubble (David), Allison Bryan, Slade Bryan, Jordan Sanders Barrentine (Thomas), and Jaylee Sanders; Several Great-Nephews including – Ethan Saenz and Lane Barrentine; Aunts and Uncles – W.H. Powell of Prattville, AL, Billy Joe Bacon (Lynn) of Dexter, and Charlotte Bacon of Dublin; Numerous cousins and friends.
The family may be contacted at the Taylor residence, 2360 Hwy. 165, Chauncey, GA, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 6:00PM-8:00PM Monday, October 5. In addition to flowers, contributions may be made to Lovely Grove Baptist Church, 877 Lovely Grove Church Rd., Eastman, GA 31023, in honor of Gerry.
