MR. GEORGE AUVIS THOMPSON, JR., age 74, of Eastman, GA, died Monday, August 26, 2019, at the Medical Center Navicent Health in Macon.

MR. GEORGE AUVIS THOMPSON, JR., age 74, of Eastman, GA, died Monday, August 26, 2019, at the Medical Center Navicent Health in Macon.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, August 29, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Fred Parker officiating, and interment in Orphans Cemetery.

 George was born in Hawkinsville, GA, a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, a 1963 graduate of Dodge County High School, a veteran of the U. S. Army, a lifelong farmer, and was a heavy equipment owner/operator and pond construction specialist. He was a former BellSouth service technician, a former Dodge County Sheriff’s Deputy for over 14 years, and an avid fisherman and marksman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. George was son of the late Mary Lou Smith Thompson and George Auvis Thompson, Sr. and was preceded in death by his Wife, Jackie Bass Thompson; Mother-in-Law, Bertha Bass; and Sister-in-Law, Betty Ann Bass Roland.

 Survivors: 2 Sons – George A. “Trey” Thompson, III (Stacy) of Montrose and Walter H. “Walt” Thompson of Eastman; 4 Grandchildren – Clint Thompson, Braedon Thompson, C. J. Thompson, and Holdin Thompson; 2 Sisters – Gail Bennett (Roscoe) of Eastman and Pam McEntire (Burns) of Gastonia, NC; Sister-in-Law – Linda Bass Mullis (Don) of Gresston; and several nieces and nephews.

 The family may be contacted at the residence of Gail and Roscoe Bennett, 465 Friendship UMC Rd., Cochran, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 5:00PM-7:00PM Wednesday, August 28.
