MR. GENE HAROLD FRANCOIS, age 75, of Eastman, GA, died Friday, August 23, 2024, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, GA.
No services are scheduled at this time. He will be laid to rest next to his Wife, Nellie Burnam Francois at Vilula Baptist Church Cemetery.
Gene was born in Chicago, IL on August 7, 1949. He was a high school graduate and later attended Central Texas College before joining the U.S. Army, where he served during the Korean DMZ Conflict from 1967 to 1970, as a heavy machinery technician. After leaving the Army, he worked as an HVAC technician for Johnson Controls in Savannah, GA for over 25 years. While living in Savannah, he married Nellie Burnam Francios and they later moved to Eastman, GA in 2014. Gene enjoyed shopping at flea markets, watching tv with his wife, cooking, barbequing, reading fiction and mystery thriller novels, and spending time and taking care of his canine companions, Reno and Mixon. He was the son of the late Harold J. Francois and Claire Dzieman Francois, and was preceded in death by his Wife, Nellie Mae Burnam Francois, and Step-Children, Charles Jones and Angela Jones May.
He is survived by his Step-Children – Joey Jones, Jeffrey Wammack, Tina Jones Clements (Lonny), and Gayle Hubbard (William); Grandchildren – Ashley Williams (Devonte), Sierra Matthews (Trey), Heather Pittman (Wynnon), Kelly Dunlap (Jeremy), Elizabeth Rykard, Brad Balderston (Diane), Justin Reeves, Sabrina Allen (Richie), Adam Clements, Michael Graham (Misty), Charles Ward, Raleigh Ward, Shannon Hubbard (Steve Novak), and Dusty Hubbard; Niece – Terri Hayes; Faithful Canine Companions – Reno and Mixon.
The family may be contacted at the residence of Joey R. Jones, 5518 Bacon Avenue, Eastman, GA. The family has requested the omittance of flowers and would prefer to have donations made to Faithful Hearts Animal Shelter, 77 Industrial Blvd., Eastman, GA 31023 in honor of Gene.
