MR. GARY LAMAR JONES, age 82, of Eastman, GA, died Sunday, June 25, 2023, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, June 29, at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Dr. Dwaine Dunn officiating.
Gary was born and raised in Dodge County, attended Dodge County High School, a member of Cottondale Baptist Church, and attended St. Mark Catholic Church since 2011. After leaving high school, he first went to work for Coca Cola Bottling Company in Eastman and McRae, where he worked for over six years. He later worked at Robins AFB for several years as a civil service employee before working as a Stuckey’s store manager for several years in Vaiden, MS and also a couple of Stuckey’s stores in South Georgia. He later operated his own appliance repair service from the 1990s to the early 2000s. He was a 4th Degree Mason with Eugene Smith Lodge #379, an avid gun enthusiast, and a member of the NRA. Gary enjoyed spending time with his wife, loved watching westerns on TV, and enjoyed talking to people and talking about the past. He was the son of the late Ruby Lee Harrison Jones and Roscoe Marion Jones.
He is survived by his Wife – Rena Jones of Eastman; Son – John Lamar Jones (Sherry Wood) of Thomasville; Stepdaughter – Dee Yanong of Columbus; Grandchildren – Chris Jones and Taylor Jones, both of Thomasville; 2 Great Grandchildren – Keegan Jones and Konner Jones; Sister – Linda McLeod (Eddie) of Eastman; Mother-in-law and Father-in-law – Rebecca and Romy Yanong, both of Eastman; Numerous Cousins and Friends.
The family will receive friends in Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home from 9:30AM-10:30AM Thursday, June 29.
