MR. JAMES FRANKLIN TOMBERLIN, age 78, of Rhine, GA, died Monday, May 27, 2019 at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home.

MR. JAMES FRANKLIN TOMBERLIN, age 78, of Rhine, GA, died Monday, May 27, 2019 at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, May 29, at Hopewell Baptist Church, with Rev. Daniel Cook and Mr. Mike Hilliard officiating, with interment in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.

 Mr. Tomberlin was a lifelong resident of Rhine, a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, and was the founder, owner, and operator, along with his wife Betty, of Tomberlin Trucking Company, Inc. for over 25 years. He was a former heavy equipment operator for Jamieson Construction Company from the late 1960s to the early 1970s, a former general superintendent for Oxford Construction Company for over 10 years, and a former superintendent at Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro, Ross of Georgia Construction Company and Douglas Asphalt Company. Franklin enjoyed working, his church, and spending time with his family and friends. He was son of the late Lucretia Dowdy Tomberlin and Willie Tomberlin, widower of Betty B. Tomberlin, and was preceded in death by a Son, Marty Tomberlin, Granddaughter, Lindsey Tomberlin, Step-Children, Barbara Ann Rogers and Charlie Dye, Step-Grandson, Robert Bowen, and Brother, Harry Tomberlin.

 Survivors: Daughter – Felicia Williams (Mike) of Rhine; Son – Reg Tomberlin (Shelley) of Rhine; 2 Step-Daughters – Betty Sue Bowen (Richard) of Rhine and Beth McCranie of Eastman; 5 Grandchildren – Michael Williams (Mandy), Casey Williams, Austin Williams (Courtney), Paula Rogers (Joel), and Frank Tomberlin (Morgan); Numerous Step-Grandchildren and Numerous Great-Grandchildren; Special Friend – Donna Walker of Rhine; 2 Sisters – Phyllis Howard and Rhoda Foster (Mark) both of Macon; Brother – Donald “Duck” Tomberlin (Angela) of Warner Robins; Several Nieces and Nephews.

 The family may be contacted at the residence of Reg and Shelley Tomberlin, 642 Pleasant Grove Church Rd., Rhine, and will receive friends in Hopewell Baptist Church from 1:00PM-2:00PM Wednesday, May 29. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Hopewell Baptist Church, P.O. Box 278, Rhine, GA 31077.
