MR. JAMES FRANKLIN “FRANKIE” LOYD, JR., age 71, of Chauncey, GA, died Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Wellstar MCG Hospital in Augusta, GA.

 Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Friday, May 8, 2026, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Todd Crosby officiating, with interment in Chauncey City Cemetery.

 Frankie was born on February 18, 1955, in Eastman, GA, and was member of Eastman First Baptist Church. He was a 1972 graduate of Dodge County High School and married his high school sweetheart, Jan Kelly, in August of 1974. He and Jan lived in Americus, GA and later for a short time in Valdosta, GA before returning home to Eastman in 1977 where Frankie worked with his father, James and his son, Jamie, in the family business for Loyd’s Chrysler Plymouth Dodge. They were successful automobile dealers in the Middle Georgia area and made many friendships throughout their sales careers. Since 2012 Frankie enjoyed a career as a rural carrier for the United States Postal Service in Eastman, GA. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed being a car dealer, hunting, fishing trips to the family river camp house and playing cards with friends. One of his favorite past times was spending time with his family and watching westerns and relaxing on the porch with his wife Jan who was dearly missed after her passing in 2024. Frankie was the son of the late Montine Manning Loyd and James Franklin Loyd, Sr., and was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Jan Kelly Loyd.

 He is survived by his Son – Jamie Loyd (Shann) of Eastman, GA; 2 Daughters – Jana Loyd Owen (Josh) of Vidalia, GA and Jenica Loyd Sheffield of Chauncey, GA; 6 Grandchildren – Jaley Owen, Jacey Owen, James Owen, Jaylin Sheffield, Jessa Sheffield, and Juliana Ford Loyd; Aunts and Uncles – Charlotte Loyd Mercer of Conyers, GA, and Gerald Manning (Joan) of Eastman, GA; Sisters-in-law – Saralyn Kelly Entrekin (Marshall) of Eatonton, GA, Brinda Kelly Stanley of Eastman, GA, Linda Kelly Covington (Melton) of Thomasville, GA, Kerry Kelly Graham (Wayne) of Chauncey, GA, and Gloria Hilliard Kelly of Dublin, GA; Brother-in-law – John Caswell Kelly Sr., (Linda) of Chauncey, GA; Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 The family may be contacted at the Loyd residence, 234 South Railroad Avenue, Chauncey, GA, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 2:00PM-3:00PM Friday, May 8, one hour before funeral services. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to the Hadden Kelly Foundation, 915 Jim Ross Rd., Eastman, GA 31023.
