Obituary for Frank Parkerson

Mr. Bealer Frank Parkerson Jr., 79, of Baxley, GA, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. The echoes of his life’s melody linger in the hearts of those he touched with his unwavering kindness, his gentle strength, and his passionate care for the voiceless creatures he dedicated his life to healing.

Born in Parkerson Hospital in McRae, GA, Frank’s early years in Chauncey were filled with the simplicity of rural life and the love of a family reunited post-World War II. His intellectual journey took him from the halls of Dodge County High School to the prestigious corridors of the University of Georgia College of Veterinarian Medicine, a testament to his lifelong commitment to education and his calling to veterinary medicine.

Dr. Parkerson’s professional legacy was etched in the grateful purrs and wagging tails at Robinson Animal Hospital in Waycross, GA, and later at his own Parkerson Animal Hospital in Baxley, GA. For four decades, he was not only a healer of animals but also a pillar of the community, a man whose generosity knew no bounds and whose compassion was as boundless as the Georgia skies under which he loved to hunt and fish.

He was a devoted husband to Vickey Wagner Parkerson, a loving father to Terri and Christopher, and a doting grandfather to five grandchildren, who will carry forward the tapestry of memories woven from countless shared moments. Frank was a beacon of love and joy in the lives of his step-sons, David and Kevin Adams, his sister, Karen, and his wider family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

As we gather to bid farewell to Frank, let us remember a life lived in full resonance with the world around him, a life that hummed the tune of service, family, and the great outdoors. His story does not end here, for in every life he touched, in every act of kindness, Frank Parkerson’s spirit endures.

The family will receive friends and share remembrances of Frank's extraordinary life at Southerland Funeral Chapel on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 12:30 PM until the hour of the service at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Donnie Swanson officiating. Frank will be laid to rest in Chauncey City Cemetery in Chauncey, GA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a cause close to Frank’s heart, one that reflects his enduring legacy of care and compassion for animals. The Parkerson residence will remain a place of solace and gathering for all who wish to reminisce about Frank's remarkable journey through life.

As we reflect on the life of Mr. Bealer Frank Parkerson Jr., we are reminded that the truest measure of a man is not in the years lived but in the lives he has uplifted. Frank’s story is a beacon that will guide us through our own journeys, a narrative of love, dedication, and humble service that will continue to inspire generations to come.
