MR. EDWARD JOHN CHARLOVICH, SR., age 82, of Eastman, GA, died Monday, August 1, 2022, at his residence.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Friday, August 5, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Joe Daniel officiating, with interment in Plainfield Baptist Church Cemetery.

 Mr. Charlovich was born in 1940 in Rochester, PA, and was a graduate of Rochester High School and later attended Augusta College where he studied business. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Jacksonville, FL, where he met his future wife in 1963 while she was in college. They married in November 1963 and lived in Jacksonville, FL where they began their family before moving to Aiken, SC in 1964. He began his career with United Parcel Service as a driver and worked his way up to terminal manager during his more than 10-year career with the company. He lived in Augusta for a time before moving to Eastman in 1976. In Eastman, he worked as a cold storage manager for Stuckey’s Candy Company. In the mid 1980’s, he began a more than 20-year career as a superintendent of the City of Eastman Water & Wastewater Departments. He was a dedicated husband and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who enjoyed playing semi-pro baseball during his earlier years and later enjoyed playing church softball. He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Eastman, and for many years he was active as a church training director and a bus and van committee member. He enjoyed transporting members to church, and he liked taking care of and restoring vehicles. Edward was the son of the late Anna Flajnik Charlovich and Joseph Charlovich and was preceded in death by a Brother, Tommy Charlovich and an infant brother.

 He is survived by his Wife of 58 years – Sandra Large Charlovich of Eastman; Daughter – Erica C. Strickland (Chuck) of Cochran; Son – Eddie Charlovich (Louann) of Eastman; 7 Grandchildren – Brandi Lee, Abbi Charlovich, John Thomas Charlovich, all of Eastman, Justin Charlovich (Anna) of Stuttgart, Germany, Jacob Strickland (Hannah) of Highlands Ranch, CO, Anna Strickland of Perry, FL, and Meredith Brown of Longwood, FL; 5 Great-Grandchildren – Jed Strickland, Kaisley Soles, Hunter Gregory, Emily Gregory, and Brantley Gregory; Adopted Grandson – Dustin “Ducky” Giddens; 2 Sisters – Joan Charlovich of Beaver, PA and Gerry Alicandro (Joe) of Rochester, PA; Brother – Robert Charlovich, Sr. of Conway, PA; Brother-in-law – Jack Large (Elizabeth) of Jacksonville, FL; Several Nieces and Nephews.

 The family may be contacted at the Charlovich residence, 5143 Ogden Street, Eastman, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 10:00AM-11:00AM Friday, August 5. In addition to flowers, the family request contributions to the Eastman Christian Life Center, Gideons International Bible Fund, Hospice Care Options, or Eastman FBC Cornerstone Academy.
