MR. CHARLES EDISON SMITH, age 88, of Eastman, GA, died Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Dodge County Hospital.

 Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, at Bay Springs Cemetery in Plainfield, with Rev. Larry Mullis and Rev. Russell “Buddy” Horne officiating.

 Edison was a lifelong resident of Dodge County, a charter member, deacon and song leader of First Freewill Baptist Church for over 40 years, and a retired Quality Assurance Specialist for Robins Air Force Base for over 36 years. He was a dedicated and loving husband who loved his family, had a great wit for telling stories of his youth, and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. He was the son of the late Nancy Jewell Butler Smith and Isaac Monroe Smith and was preceded in death by his first Wife, Julia Etta Evans Smith, Sister, Marjorie Ross Van Pelt, and Brother, Hollis M. Smith.

 He is survived by his Wife – Wynelle Davis Brown Smith of Eastman; 2 Daughters – Belinda Miller of Tucker and Elaine Belflower (Garry) of Dexter; Son – David Smith (Becky) of Lexington, GA; Step-Sons – Tim Brown (Brenda), David Brown (LeAnn) both of Chester, and Max Brown (Brittney) of Tifton; 12 Grandchildren – Natalie Harris (Jimmy), Nathan Miller, Jami Thompson (Mike), Matt Belflower (Jessica), Nicole Higdon (Daniel), Jesse Brown, Jaime Tripp (Clay), Corey Rogers (Zack), Cody Little, Charlie Katherine Mullis (Lynseay), Daniel Berckman, and Amy Lister Brown; 18 Great-Grandchildren – Chipper Elrod, Evelyn Miller, Vera Miller, Avory Belflower, Micah Belflower, Peyton Belflower, Everly Belflower, Jace Thompson, Ella Thompson, Cody Tittle, Brinley Tittle, Boone Higdon, Dalton Brown, Sawyer Brown, Jackson Tripp, Carson Tripp, Isaac Floyd, and Xander Rogers; Great-Great-Grandson – Bearett Elrod; Sister – Vicene S. Rearden of Warner Robins; 2 Brothers – Billy Joe Smith of Griffin and I. Gerald Smith (Betty Anne) of Eastman; Sister-in-law – Josephine “Jo” Smith of Eastman; Brother-in-law – Leroy “Roy” Lewis of Macon; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
