Obituary for Donald Rowland

MR. DONALD “DON” CLIFFORD ROWLAND, age 59, of Dexter, GA, died suddenly on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, GA .

Don was born in Pontiac, Michigan, to the late James McKee Rowland and Ellen Marie (Davis) Rowland. He was the loving and devoted husband to Jean for almost 25 years, “Daddy” to their faithful canine companion, Zaida; dear brother to Jeff (Colleen) Rowland of Waterford, MI, Cynda (Stanley) Darnell of Dexter, GA, Tracy (Cindy) Rowland of Dudley, GA and brother-in-law Tim (Katha’leene) Banks of Millsap, TX. He has several nieces and nephews scattered across the country. He and his wife own and operate Hitchiti Mobile Home Park in Dexter, GA.

Over the years, his infectious personality afforded him many friends, both young and old, from near and far. Don and Jean found great joy within their community of skydiving friends and spent many years jumping together. The friends they made during those days, hanging out at the drop zone, have become more like family than friends. Don always made sure that everyone he met felt welcome and had a good time. Those who have crossed his path were not likely to forget him, as he easily joked and kidded around with everyone. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone, anytime. The past few years, Don and Jean were devoted to tirelessly caring for their aging parents as they approached their final days. Don’s final gift in this world was to be an organ and tissue donor through the LifeLink Foundation.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ellen Marie Rowland, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Marlene Banks, and brother-in-law, Neale Banks all from Michigan.

In Don’s memory, please consider making a donation to the Laurens County Humane Society, 618 Firetower Rd., Dublin, GA 31021.
