MR. DONALD RAY COOK, age 82, of Eastman, GA, died Saturday July 27, 2019 at his residence.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, July 30, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Donnie Sutton and Rev. Mike Grenade officiating, with interment in Bay Spring Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

 Mr. Cook was born in Chauncey, GA and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, serving as a deacon for over 30 years. He worked several jobs during his career including a 10 year employment as a fertilizer distributor for Studstill Warehouse, 5 years as a textile worker for Reeves Brothers, 8 years as the produce manager for Coleman Grocery, worked at Goody’s Products for several years and was a glue maker for Gilman Paper Company for 10 years before retiring. Mr. Cook was a loving husband and father who enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his canine companion, Bojack. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Genie Nathan Cook and Lula Mae Reaves Cook, 2 sisters, Ruby Jean Cook Smith and Juanita Cook White, 2 brothers, Freddie Cook and Nathan Cook, and a son-in-law, Willie Hutto.

 Survivors: Wife of 55 years – Melteen Jones Cook of Eastman; 3 Daughters – Joyce Hutto of Eastman, Kay West (Mike) of Eastman, and Tammy Clyde (Sean) of Blairsville; 3 Brothers – Herman Cook (Sylvia) of Brunswick, Ken Cook (Norma) of Warner Robins, and Ricky Cook of Eastman; 3 Grandchildren – Kyle Miller (Tiffany) of Jacksonville, NC, Michelle Miller of Blairsville, and Melissa Rambin (Alan) of Eastman; 3 Great Grandchildren – Riley Wildner, Jessie Rambin, and Will Rambin; Sisters-in-Law and Brothers-in-law – Carol Bryan Cook, Betty Weathersbee (Junior), Geraldine Sheffield, Ernest Jones, Linda Roberson, and Bobby Jones; Several Nieces and Nephews.

 The family may be contacted at the Cook residence, 244 Bedsole Road, Eastman, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 6:00PM-8:00PM Monday, July 29. In addition to flowers, the family request contributions to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1530 Airport Road, Eastman, GA 31023.
