MR. DONALD EUGENE “DON” SNELLGROVE, age 74, of Eastman, GA, died Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Community Hospice in Vidalia, GA.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, October 30, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Ronny Moore officiating, with interment in Sugar Creek Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery.

 Don was born in McRae, GA on October 2, 1950. He was a lifelong resident of Eastman, GA, a member and steward of Sugar Creek Southern Congregational Methodist Church and a graduate of Dodge County High School. He married the love of his life, Barbara, in 1971 and was blessed with his son, Ron, and daughter, Renae. He started his career in trucking at the age of 16. Don loved his career as a semitruck driver and was a model trucker. He first drove for Steedley Trucking in Waycross, GA, then drove for Stuckey’s Candy Company for many years, and over the years drove for many other companies including HMH Truck Lines in Hazlehurst, GA, Coco-Cola in McRae, GA, Reynolds Aluminum in Eastman, GA, and retired after working for several years for Watkins Brothers Trucking. He was a loving husband, father, “Pe Pa”, brother, and uncle. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and his favorite driver was Bill Elliott. Don was a stock car driver for several years at 441 Speedway during the 1970s. He loved racing and attended many races over the years. He also loved country music, especially Waylon Jennings, who was his favorite artist. He loved his family, loved being a “Pe Pa” to his amazing grandchildren, and loved his church, where he was a dedicated member and steward. Don was the son of the late Sue Lorene Jones Snellgrove and Eschol Eugene Snellgrove.

 He is survived by his Wife – Barbara Ann Williams Snellgrove of Eastman, GA; Daughter – Renae S. Owens (Bryan) of Elko, GA; Son – Ron Snellgrove of Eastman, GA; Granddaughters – Halle Wise, Cailyn Wise, and Logan Owens, all of Elko, GA; Sister – Bernice Harrelson of Eastman, GA; Sister-in-law – Johnnie Faye Parks of Centerville, GA; Brother-in-law - Sonny Williams of Cochran, GA; Nieces and Nephews – Corey Harrelson, Shane Harrelson (Sandra), Kelly Parks (Mandy), Marty Williams, Zack Williams (Jaclyn), and Tracey Bosley; Great-Nephews – Mack Harrelson, Brock Harrelson, Bradley Harrelson, and Blake Harrelson; Aunts – Helen S. White of Barnesville, GA, Mary S. Knowles of Kathleen, GA, and Hazel S. Cape of Hawkinsville, GA; Numerous Cousins and Friends.

 The family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 1:00PM-2:00PM Wednesday, October 30. In addition to flowers, the family request contributions to Sugar Creek Congregational Methodist Church, Chauncey, GA 31011.
