MR. DAVID L. HUBBARD, age 70, of the Roddy Community in Dodge County, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, GA.
MR. DAVID L. HUBBARD, age 70, of the Roddy Community in Dodge County, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, GA.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
David was born in Centre, AL, on September 16, 1955, to the late Annie Jo Davis Hubbard and Gaines L. Hubbard. In his youth, the family moved to Warner Robins, GA, where he attended Northside High School. At 17, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served his country proudly and faithfully during his military career. After leaving the U.S. Army, he worked as a correctional officer at Dodge State Prison for 28 years and was a member of the Peace Officers Association.
He was of the Christian Faith, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, going places with his wife, Sherry, and rambling, which was his favorite pastime. He was affectionately called “Papa” by his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his Siblings, Joseph Hubbard and Elizabeth Hubbard Smith, Sister-in-law, Kathy Hubbard, and Brother-in-law, Mike Southerland.
He is survived by his Wife of 23 years – Sherry Southerland Hubbard of Roddy; Step-Daughters – Beth Clements (Rusty) of McRae and Katie Carver (Kyle) of Denton; Step-Son – Ben Register of Rincon; Grandchildren – Allie Register, Macey Register, Cole Register, Caleb Register, Rustyn Clements, Aidan Williams, Kameron Carver, and Kade Carver; Sister – Judy Hubbard of Warner Robins; Brother – James Hubbard of Warner Robins; Brothers-in-law – David Southerland (Pam) of Eastman and Raye Southerland (Janice) of Dublin; Sister-in-law – Leisa Boatright Southerland of Alma, GA; Nieces and Nephews – Bryan Southerland, Blake Southerland, Samantha Crawford, Brooke Holt, Hannah Hartzog, Abby Welch, Kyle Southerland, Jessica Hubbard, Chris Hubbard, Katlyn Hubbard, and John Ratliff; Faithful Canine Companions – Bailey and Ivey.
