MR. DAVID ALEXANDER BOYD, age 74, of Eastman, GA, died Monday, February 4, 2019 at Monroe County Hospital in Forsyth, GA.

    Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, February 6, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Chuck Taylor and Rev. John Mobley officiating, with interment in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

    Mr. Boyd was born in Macon, raised in Statham, GA, but loved and spent many years in Rhine.  He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a 1963 graduate of Lanier High School, attended Middle Georgia College, a 5 year veteran of the Georgia National Guard, and was a 41 year retired electrical equipment repairman at Robins AFB.  David enjoyed collecting guns, hunting, participating in outdoor activities, reading, and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and church family.  He was a son of the late Ina Avern Hammond Boyd and Carl Mays Boyd and was preceded in death by a Brother, Durward Mays “Red” Boyd and Sister-in-Law, Alice Hicks Boyd.

    Survivors:  Beloved wife of 51 years – Linda Hilliard Boyd of Eastman;  2 Daughters – Donna Boyd Purvis (Stacey) and Angie Boyd Burch (Ed) both of Eastman;  4 Grandchildren – Will Purvis (Wendy), Jonathan David Sheffield, Ina Grace Purvis, and Isabelle Lee Burch;  3 Great-Grandchildren – Lindsey Keen, Mason Jones, and Raleigh Purvis;  3 Brothers-in-Law – Wayne Hilliard (Wanda) of Rhine, Stevie Hilliard (Theda) of Edgefield, SC, and Earl Hilliard (Jane) of Hawkinsville;  11 Nieces and Nephews – Ed Boyd (Georgia), Dubs Boyd (Mary Jo), Gerry Boyd Bannon, Lally Boyd Weaver (Joey), Tracy Hickman (Andy), Trina Franklin (Cal), Lacey Dellinger (Matt), Matt Hilliard, Mark Hilliard (Katrina), Mike Hilliard (Dottie), and Tim Hilliard (Pauline);  Numerous Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews.

    The family may be contacted at the residence of Donna and Stacey Purvis, 926 Gum Swamp Rd., Eastman, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 6:00PM-8:00PM Tuesday, February 5.
