MR. EARNEST “DANNY” YANCEY, age 75, of Rhine, GA, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, GA.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Friday, January 10, at Sharon Baptist Church in Rhine, GA, with Pastor Jody Yancey officiating, with interment in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.

 Danny was born in Eastman, GA on July 6, 1949. He was a lifelong resident of Dodge County, a member of Sharon Baptist Church, and a 1966 graduate of Dodge County High School. He was a lifelong farmer, a former employee of Standard Candy Company for over 32 years, and later worked as a correctional officer for Wilcox State Prison and the Georgia Department of Corrections. He also worked as a delivery driver for Rhine Drug Company for several years. Danny loved his family, listening to music, fishing, and hunting for arrowheads. He was a loving father and grandfather and was affectionately known as “Toot” to his family and “Papa Toot” to his grandson. Danny was the son of the late Hazel Cook Yancey and Jessie Willard Yancey and was preceded in death by his Daughter, Dana Yancey, Siblings, Diane Yancey Nash and Joey Yancey, and Companion, Linda Faye Dix Fournier.

 He is survived by his Son – Jody Yancey (Tanya) of Rhine, GA; Grandson – Will Yancey (Haylie) of Rhine, GA; Great-Grandson – Travis Yancey; Great-Granddaughter on the way – Dana Annette Yancey; Brother – Jerry Yancey (Monette) of Rhine, GA; Nieces and Nephew – Scott Hall (Betsy), Renae Rogers (James), and Laura Watkins (Jay); Several great-nieces and nephews, including a special great-great-nephew, Gunner Moore; Numerous cousins and friends.

 The family may be contacted at the Yancey Family Cookhouse, 1675 Telfair County Line Rd. Rhine, GA, and will receive friends in Sharon Baptist Church from 10:00AM-11:00AM Friday, January 10. In addition to flowers, the family request contributions to Sharon Baptist Church, 3712 Temperance Rd., Rhine, GA 31077.
