MR. CURTIS DANIEL SHEFFIELD, age 82, of Eastman, GA, died Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Friday, October 20, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Jack Lee, Rev. Greg Farmer, Rev. Ron Jones, and Rev. Royce McClelland officiating, with interment in Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Curtis was born in Milan, GA and a lifelong resident of Dodge County. He was a 1962 graduate of Dodge County High School, member and deacon of Liberty Baptist Church, and a machinist at Armstrong World Industries for over thirty-six years, before retiring in 1999. He was a Christian man who loved his church and helped with the Carpenters for Christ ministry for many years. He enjoyed raising chickens and tending to his coop. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. Curtis was an avid sports fan who loved watching the Braves, Georgia Bulldogs, and Atlanta Falcons. He was a true family man who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s ballgames and special events. He was the son of the late Mattie Ethel Jones Sheffield and Albert Sheffield and was preceded in death by his Son, Donnie Curtis Sheffield, Grandson, Rory Wood, Jr, Brother, John Robert Sheffield, and his Stepmother, Madie Jones Sheffield.
He is survived by his Wife of 63 years – Edith Roland Sheffield of Eastman, GA; 3 Daughters – Dianne S. Purvis (Scott), Denise S. Lowery (Chris), both of Eastman, GA, and Phyllis Rozier of Cochran, GA; Daughter-in-law – Teresa Ann Sheffield of Eastman, GA; Grandchildren – Allison Hulett (Matt), Andrew Lowery (Haley), Dalton Lowery (Madolyn), Clint Purvis, Austin Purvis, Mollie Brianna Sheffield (Tyler), Dixie Dawn “D.D.” Thigpen (Chris), D.J. Sheffield (Bekka), Pam Teagle (J.P.), and Sonya Ferrel (Brandon); Great-Grandchildren – Bryla Sheffield, Kinsley Sheffield, Reid Sheffield, Gracie Thigpen, Savannah Thigpen, Rory Wood, III, Emily Ferrel, Brody Ferrel, John Michael Teagle, Weston Teagle, Ethan Teagle, and Lane Teagle; Brother – Carl Sheffield (Florine) of Watkinsville, GA; Sister-in-law – Linda Kirkis Sheffield of Eastman, GA; Aunts and Uncles – Rossi Giddens (Carroll Ray), Martha Rogers, Therrell Cobb, Regina Sheffield, and Denise Sheffield; Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
