MRS. COLINE VANESSA CHRISTIAN GIDDENS, age 99, of Groveland, FL, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, from complications due to dementia.

MRS. COLINE VANESSA CHRISTIAN GIDDENS, age 99, of Groveland, FL, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, from complications due to dementia.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, January 4, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cadwell, with Rev. Greg Lowery officiating, with interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

 Mrs. Giddens was born on May 26, 1921 to the late Frank C. Christian and Elsie Dominy Christian in Laurens County, GA. She was married to William Daniel “Dub” Giddens, Jr., of Eastman, on January 21, 1939, and their marriage lasted for over 69 years until his passing in May of 2008. Coline was preceded in death by her Sister, Frankie Lee Fountain, Brother, Hansel Ray Christian, and Son, Maloy Giddens. Her dearest friend and “sister”, Grace Rogers, also preceded her in death. She was the last living member of both her and her husband’s generation of siblings.

 Coline worked hard throughout her life helping on their farm. In her early years of marriage, she helped her husband build their home in Dawson, GA and worked for a number of years at the Clark Thread Mill in Albany, GA. She worked nights at the Dawson Peanut Industries in Dawson, GA processing peanut butter. Later, her family moved to Florida and she worked for numerous fruit packing houses in the Central Florida area for many years. She also worked for and later retired from the Candy Kitchen at the Citrus Tower in Clermont, FL. She was active in the support of her home church, Mascotte First Methodist Church in Mascotte, FL. Coline was well known for her finely cooked meals at the monthly fellowship church dinners. She was affectionately known as “Granny” to all her family and friends. She loved gardening, canning, and could be frequently seen at yard sales with her husband. She made many quilts and crocheted many afghans when she was not working outdoors.

 She is survived by 2 Daughters – Martha Jean Cotton (Dan Judy) of Groveland, FL and Barbara Faye Knight of Rentz; Son – Lynn Giddens of Groveland, FL; 10 Grandchildren – Mike Giddens (Christine) of Winter Garden, FL, Jenna Cotton Harger (David) of Ocoee, FL, Judson Giddens of Groveland, FL, William Giddens (Trish) of Eustis, FL, Rhonda McDowell (Ricky) of Cochran, Vicki Sheppard (Marshall) of Oconee, GA, Sharon Overman (Mike) of Milledgeville, Jodie Judy Spears (Mark), Dale Judy (Janet), and Alex Judy all of Groveland, FL; 14 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren; Many Nieces and Nephews also survive.

 Mrs. Giddens will lie-in-state from 1:00PM-3:00PM Sunday, January 3. In lieu flowers the family request contributions to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 40, Cadwell, GA 31009. The family may be contacted at the residence of Mrs. Barbara Knight, 2525 Fountain Road, Rentz, GA 31075.
