MR. JOHN CLIFFORD GAY, age 69, of Milan, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Dodge County Hospital.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Friday, February 17, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Scott McDuffie and Rev. Rusty Harper officiating, with interment in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

 Clifford was born in Dodge County on October 28, 1953, and was raised in Telfair County, where he attended Telfair County High School. He was a dedicated member and deacon of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for over 40 years and loved his church dearly. He married the love of his life in 1972, was a lifelong farmer, operated and worked on heavy equipment over the years, and loved working every aspect of farming and anything related to it. He loved taking care of his family and being a provider for them. Clifford was a good Christian father who took his job as a father seriously and gave God all the glory for it. He was the son of the late Jewel Mae McDuffie Smith and Lee Gerald Gay and was preceded in death by his Stepfather, Lawrence “Bill” Smith and Brother, Steven Smith.

 He is survived by his Loving Wife of 51 years – Cathy Walker Gay of Milan; 3 Sons – Jamie Gay, Jeff Gay (Joni), and Gerald Gay (Kortney), all of Milan; 6 Grandchildren – Will Gay, Lee Jerald Gay, Jadie Gay, Joah Gay, all of Milan, Tyler Kent (Hannah) of McRae, and Will Ledford of Glenwood; 3 Great-Grandchildren – Trystin Kent, Kyser Kent, and Norah Deese; 2 Sisters – Brenda G. Watkins (Tim) and Gerry G. Walker, both of Milan; 2 Brothers – Cary Gay of Douglas and Billy Smith (Tammie) of Byromville; Sisters-in-law and Brothers-in-law – Linda Bowen, Clint Walker (Francis), and Billy Walker (Bonnie); Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

 The family may be contacted at the Gay residence, 527 Gay Studstill Rd., Milan, and will receive friends at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church from 6:00PM-8:00PM Thursday, February 16. In addition to flowers, the family request contributions to Gideons International Bible Fund.
