MR. CHARLES RUTHEL MULLIS, age 78, of Cochran, GA, died Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at his residence.

 A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00PM Saturday, November 11, in Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Bill Mullis officiating.

 Charles was born in McRae, GA and raised in Dodge County. He was a 1963 graduate of Dodge County High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After completing his military service, he worked as an X-Ray technician for Coweta County Hospital and later Taylor Regional Hospital. Charles attended Middle Georgia College, where he graduated with honors in 1977 with a degree in nursing. He began his nursing career at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, GA, where he specialized in critical care and advanced to nursing supervisor, a position he held until his retirement in 2013 after over thirty-five years of faithful service. After retiring, Charles enjoyed many years of getting to spend quality time with his family, friends, and especially his granddaughter. To his children and grandchildren, he was affectionately known as “Pop”. He enjoyed working around his home and sitting in his favorite chair, under his favorite tree, discussing and solving world problems with friends and family. Charles was the son of the late Vivian Yawn Mullis and Fulton Mullis and was preceded in death by a Son, David Judson “Judd” Mullis, Sister, Carlene James, Brother, Sidney Mullis, Brother-in-law, Eddie Collins, and Nephew, Michael Mullis.

 He is survived by his Wife of 56 years – Rosie Solis Mullis of Cochran, GA; Son – Denny Mullis (Tammy) of Cordele, GA; 2 Grandchildren – Savannah Mullis and Brandon Brown; Sister – Terry Collins of Eastman, GA; Brother – Tim Mullis (Terrie) of Hawkinsville, GA; Sisters-in-law and Brothers-in-law – Sue Parker Mullis of Cochran, GA, Becky Solis, Ruben Solis, David Solis (Elia), all of Austin, TX, and Dan Solis (Manuela) of Dallas, TX; Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and a host of friends .

 The family may be contacted at the Mullis residence, 161 Pineland Estates Rd., Cochran, GA, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 2:00PM-3:00PM Saturday, November 11. The family has requested the omittance of flowers and would prefer contributions be made to the Middle Georgia State University Nursing Program, 100 University Parkway, Macon, GA 31206. https://giving.mga.edu
