Obituary for Cecilia Simmons

MRS. CECILIA ELAINE PARKER SIMMONS, age 62, of Eastman, GA, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home.

 A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

 Cecilia was born in Eastman, GA on October 12, 1963, to the late Joyce Williams Spires and William Cecil Parker. At the age of six, she and her family moved to Atlanta, GA, where they resided for five years before returning to Dodge County. She attended Dodge County High School and later studied at Heart of Georgia Technical College in Dublin, where she earned a diploma in computer programming. She was a loving mother to her two children, Jessica Nicole and Dennis Chase, and was affectionately called “Nana” by her grandchildren. “Aunt Cewa” was a caring aunt to all her nieces and nephews. Cecilia loved working with children and was able to help many children while working at Lolly’s Pre-k and later when she operated her own daycare center called Dreamcicles Daycare from the late 1990s to the early 2000s. She also worked for several years as a manufacturing employee at Dowling Industries and for many years, she was a dedicated homemaker. Cecilia was a member of Antioch #1 Baptist Church, and enjoyed baking cakes, crocheting, sewing, art and crafts, and loved cooking.

 Cecilia was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Williams Spires, father, William Cecil Parker, stepbrother, Ray Spires, and sister-in-law, Trendie Spires.

 She is survived by her Daughter – Jessica Nicole “Nikki” McCook of Eastman; Son – Chase Simmons of Alamogordo, NM; Grandchildren – Jordan Bass (Jalyn) and Jaydan McCook (Holley), both of Eastman; Step-Daughter – Summer McMahon; Sister – Becky Oxley (Danny) of Eastman; Brother – Jeffery Parker of Eastman; Step-Father – Charles Spires of Eastman; Step-Brothers – Tracy Spires (Wanda), Bobby Spires, and Tommy Spires (Amanda); Several Nieces and Nephews including – Dan Oxley, Adam Oxley, Macy Parker, Lacy Parker, Justin Parker, and Dakota Parker; Uncle and Aunt - Randall Williams (Lola); Several Cousins including a very special cousin – Jimmy Lewis.
