Obituary for Carolyn Pruett Lane

MRS. CAROLYN S. LANE, age 81, of Eastman, GA, died Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Dodge County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, June 3, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Doyle Connell, Rev. Clay Layfield, and Mr. Mike Pruett officiating, with interment in Cottondale Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Cook officiating. 

 Mrs. Lane grew up and was raised in El Bethel Church area on the farm. She enjoyed the farm life and also reminiscing about the old days with lots of extended family. She loved to attend Eastman First Baptist Church where she was a member and also loved to sing, fish, cook, and sew. As a child, she and her siblings were talented singers that were on TV and sang at numerous events around the community. She was also a talented seamstress using her skills to make clothes for her children and grandchildren. She was a retired supervisor from Milan Manufacturing and also worked as a youth officer at Eastman YDC. She loved her family and her daddy and siblings called her Callie while her mother referred to her as Caroline. She was the daughter of the late Florilla Kelly Pruett and Herman George Pruett, Sr. She was preceded in death by her late Husband – W.D. Lane; Father of her children – Mike R. Spires; 2 Sisters – Betty Pruett Carr and Joy Nell Pruett; 3 Brothers – Herman J. Pruett, Jr., George H. Pruett, and Marvin Pruett; 2 Sister-In-Laws – Faye J. Pruett and Juanita W. Pruett; Brother-In-Law – Buddy Carr.    

She is survived by 3 Daughters – Ginger S. Bowen of Warner Robins, Brenda S. Padgett (Mark Sr.) of Milan, and Selena S. Woodard (Tim) of Eastman; Son – Mike R. Spires, Jr. of Milan; Step-Son – Scott Lane (Denise) of Eastman; 6 Grandchildren – Michael Johns (Ashley), Mark Padgett, Jr. (Jessica), Cody Spires (Misty), Blake Bowen (Mary Beth), Brooke B. McKeever (Caleb), Logan W. Bundick (Brent), 3 Step-Grandchildren – Jock Padgett (Lori), Laryn L. Spires (T.J.), and Lyndsie L. Jones (Colby); Daughter-In-Love – Vonnie Spires; Many Great Grands.   

The family may be contacted at the residence of Selena and Tim Woodard, 6375 Creekview Drive, Eastman, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 10:00AM-11:00AM Thursday, June 3.
