MRS. CAROLYN CANNINGTON JUSTICE, age 89, of Eastman, GA, died Saturday, June 6, 2026, at her residence in Dodge County.
MRS. CAROLYN CANNINGTON JUSTICE, age 89, of Eastman, GA, died Saturday, June 6, 2026, at her residence in Dodge County.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Monday, June 8, in Fair Haven Baptist Church, with Rev. Todd Crosby officiating and Dr. Stewart Grizzard speaking, with interment in Fair Haven Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Carolyn was born in Eastman, GA on April 3, 1937, and was a member of Fair Haven Baptist Church. She was a 1955 Graduate of Rhine High School and worked several jobs over the years while raising her three children, Melody, Sherri, and Kevin and enjoying 43 years of marriage to Pete Justice. She worked as a Walmart greeter for 13 years before retiring in 1998 to take care of her husband before his passing later that year. In 2001 she married Charlie Payne and they enjoyed 5 years of marriage until his passing in 2006. Mrs. Carolyn enjoyed traveling, quilting, working in her yard and gardening, and especially raising her family. She was the daughter of the late Barbara Harrell Cannington and Jesse Cannington and was preceded in death by her husbands, Pete Justice and Charlie Payne, grandson, Donnie “P-Nut” McVey, Jr., siblings, Jesse Lee Rigby, Annie Maude Peterson, Claude Cannington, Carson Cannington, and Mozelle Powell.
She is survived by her Daughters – Melody Graham of Eastman and Sherri Justice of Byron; Son – Kevin Justice (Anita) of Eastman; Grandchildren – Jodi Batchelor (Michael) of McRae and Kemper Grace Justice of Eastman; Granddaughter-in-law – Haley McVey of McRae; Great-Grandchildren – Brittany Hammonds, Brianna McVey, Haley Loyd (Daniel), Brandon McVey, Jacob Batchelor, Amberlei Batchelor, Peyton McVey, and Riley McVey; Great-Great-Grandchildren – Lila Beth, Brayleigh, Brixten, Bryceton, Cohen, Brenlyn, and Hayden; Several Nieces and Nephews including Glen Cannington & Candice Brown; Special Friends – Wynette Hardy, Carroll and Sandra McCranie, Joan Joiner (the late Billy). Tyrone Williams, and Caretaker Charlotte Ross.
The family may be contacted at the residence of Kevin and Anita Justice, 4090 Fair Haven Road, Eastman, GA, 31023, and will receive friends in Fair Haven Baptist Church from 2:00PM–3:00PM Monday, June 8. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Baptist Children’s Home in Baxley, GA, 9420 Blackshear Highway, Baxley, GA, 31513.
