Obituary for Carmen Minerva Gutierrez

MS. CARMEN MINERVA GUTIERREZ, age 79, of Eastman, GA, died Thursday, June 3, 2021, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM Tuesday, June 8, at Saint Marks Catholic Church. Father Tomas Beroch will be officiating, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. 

Ms. Gutierrez was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico and was a member of Saint Monica Catholic Church – Miami Gardens Florida. She was a proud graduate of Belle Glade High School, FL. She retired from the Court of Clerk in Miami Dade County after 37 years of service. Family meant everything to Mrs. Gutierrez and she never met a stranger. She was one of the caregivers of her mother for many years. She was an excellent cook who often dedicated her services to United Way. She was also a dedicated supporter and advocate of American Red Cross blood drives. She was an enthusiastic dancer with a passion for salsa, jazz, and country music. She was the daughter of the late Carmen Maria DeLeon Quiles and Pablo Manuel Gutierrez. She was preceded in death by her Brother-in-law Jose Canales.    

She is survived by 2 Daughters – Angela Strutchen (Samuel) of Eastman and Diane Streets-Jackson (Christopher) of Jacksonville, FL; 2 Sons – Johnnie Streets, Jr. (Lisa) and Miquel Carrero of Las Vegas, NV; 3 Sisters – Carmin Canales of South Bay, FL, Maria Busbee (Johnny) of Montmorenci, SC, and Mary Lou Walker of Clewiston, FL; 10 Grandchildren – Rickie Lee Smathers (Raven), Rachard Lee Smathers (Jacqlene), Rachelle Monique Smathers, Rodrick Lee Smathers, Tiffany Sheryl Streets, Alexis Maria Vazquez-Crooks (Daymeon), Tina Streets Martin (Zach), Christian George Jackson, Chandler HendersonRoss Jackson, DaShawn Cortez Melvin; 19 Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.   

The family may be contacted at the residence of Angela and Samuel Strutchen, 5894 James Avenue, Eastman, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Home from 3:00PM-5:00PM Monday, June 7.
