MR. ROBERT C. “BOBBY” PEACOCK, age 90, of Eastman, GA, passed from this life here on Earth and entered his eternal heavenly home on Thursday, September 17, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, GA.
MR. ROBERT C. “BOBBY” PEACOCK, age 90, of Eastman, GA, passed from this life here on Earth and entered his eternal heavenly home on Thursday, September 17, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, GA.
Celebration of life services will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, September 20, at Eastman First Baptist Church, with Rev. Todd Crosby and Dr. Jerry Peele officiating. The family will receive friends following the funeral service in the Fellowship Hall. Bobby will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Bobby was born on January 2, 1936, in Cadwell, GA, to the late Avis Wynn Peacock and Walter Peacock. He was a graduate of Chester High School at the age of 15 and later graduated with honors from Middle Georgia College. Bobby began his business career in 1952 as an employee of Farmers Mutual Exchange, a division of Gold Kist Corporation, where he became the youngest company manager in 1954. He worked for Farmers Mutual Exchange for 14 years before leaving the company to become a partner at Jones & Yawn Agency, Inc. After 32 years, the agency was sold to Saunders, Stuckey, and Mullis, where he continued working for several more years. In 2012, he was asked to serve as the Dodge County Manager and served in that capacity for seven years until his retirement.
Bobby was active in community service, having served as Board Chairman of the Eastman Housing Authority, board member of the Senior Citizens Council on Aging, a member of the Jury Commission, District 1 Commissioner, and Chairman of Dodge County Commissioners. He was a member of the Rotary Club, since 1969, having served as president from 1984-1985. He was volunteer at the Christian Life Center and delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. But most importantly to Bobby was his love for his Lord and Savior. He was an active member of Eastman First Baptist Church since 1960. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1962 and served on numerous committees and fulfilled numerous roles with his church.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his sisters, Marcia P. Martin and Gwen P. Cunningham, and his brothers, Wayne Peacock and Winton Peacock, and a great-grandson, Marco Morales.
He is survived by his Loving and Dedicated Wife of 68 years – Joyce Peacock of Eastman; Daughter – Cindy Peacock Perry of Braselton; Loving Grandfather to – Ryan Perry (Lauren) of Hoschton and Brynn Perry Morales (Oscar) of Marietta; Great-Grandchildren – Cade, Summer, Hanna, and Abigail; Brother – Emory Peacock (Linda) of Eastman; Sister-in-law – Judy W. Peacock of Claxton; Brother-in-law – John Cunningham of Buford; A host of nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins and friends.
Because of Bobby’s love for the Lord and his Church, memorials may be given to a designated fund at First Baptist Church, 5107 Oak Street, Eastman, GA 31023 or the Christian Life Center, P.O. Box 476, Eastman, GA 31023.
