MRS. BOBBIE FAYE CRAVEY BENNETT, age 78, of Rhine, GA and formerly of McDonough died Saturday, March 15, 2025, at her son’s residence in Stockbridge.
MRS. BOBBIE FAYE CRAVEY BENNETT, age 78, of Rhine, GA and formerly of McDonough died Saturday, March 15, 2025, at her son’s residence in Stockbridge.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, March 18, in Rhine Baptist Church, with Rev. Bill Jones and Rev. Ricky Gilmore officiating, with interment in Bay Springs Cemetery in Rhine, GA.
Bobbie was born on January 23, 1947, in Rhine, GA and was a member of Rhine Baptist Church. She attended primary school at Rhine Elementary and was a 1964 graduate of Dodge County High School. She married her husband, Robert Lee “Bob” Bennett, Jr., in 1964, and the couple welcomed the birth of their son in 1965 while the family resided in Abbeville, GA. They relocated to Montgomery, AL while Bob worked for the railroad. An opportunity came for Bob to work for General Motors, and the family moved to Duluth for a short time before moving to Forest Park in the early 1970s. They lived there until 1988 when they moved to McDonough, GA. Bobbie retired after a 30-year career as a Crossing Guard Captain for the Clayton County Police Department and for 20 years as the office manager for B&D Moving, Inc. She was a dedicated, respected and caring worker for the town of Jonesboro, GA. Bobbie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was affectionately known as “Maw Maw” to her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, decorating, and making flower arrangements. Bobbie also enjoyed baking for fundraiser projects for homeless women and children’s charities. She was passionate about helping the homeless and served as secretary for the board of directors of The Hope Shelter in Jonesboro, GA for many years. In November of 2021 she moved back to Rhine, GA to be near her siblings. She considered herself back home and was so happy to live in Rhine once again. She will be missed by her family and many friends. Bobbie was the daughter of the late Edna Davis Cravey Cheek and James Carl Cravey, Sr. and was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert Lee “Bob” Bennett, and her brothers, James Carl Cravey, Jr. and Billy Wayne “Bill” Cravey, and his brother-in-law, David Braden.
She is survived by her Son – Robert Lee Bennett, III (Shellie) of Stockbridge, GA; Grandson – Robert Lee Bennett, IV (Bailley) of Jenkinsburg, GA; 2 Great Grandchildren – Jackson Bennett and Landon Bennett; Sister – Dale Cravey Braden of Rhine, GA; Brother – Eddie Cravey (Barbara) of Rhine, GA; Sister-in-law – Carolyn Williams Cravey of Rhine, GA; Brother-in-law – Rowell Bennett (Sue) of Atlanta, GA; Several Nieces and Nephews – Carla Jessup (John), Joey Braden (Felicia), Jason Braden (Joni), William Bennett (Lauren), Dana Cravey (Alecia), Corey Cravey (Jody), and Jim Cravey (Jenny); Numerous Great-Nieces and Nephews and Great-Great-Nieces and Nephews
