MR. JOHN WILLIAM “BILLY” BARRON, JR., age 73, of Milan, GA, died Monday, May 27, 2024, at Dodge County Hospital.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, May 30, at Rhine Baptist Church, with Rev. Bill Jones and Mr. Gary Ryals officiating, with interment in Bay Springs Cemetery in Rhine, GA.

 Billy was born in Eastman, GA and resided in Rhine, GA during his early years, where he was a member of Rhine Baptist Church. He attended Rhine Elementary and Dodge County High School, served in the Georgia National Guard for several years, and later studied auto body repair at South Georgia Technical School in Americus, GA. He was owner and operator of Billy’s Body Shop in Rhine, GA and Abbeville, GA for many years and also worked as a truck driver for Roadway Freight for over twenty years. He later enjoyed trucking for Watkins Farm for many years. His love for trucking was sparked during his childhood summers, when he would travel across the United States with his uncle Grits Bowen on a Mayflower moving truck. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, working outdoors, watching NASCAR racing and westerns, shrimp seining on the Georgia coast, and staying busy around his home. Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was dedicated to his family. He was preceded in death his Father, John William “Baby” Barron, Brother-in-law, Paul Rogers, Sister-in-law, Sandy Brown Selph, and Nephew, Kyle Barron.

 He is survived by his Wife of 30 years – Kay Brown Barron of Milan, GA; Daughters – Melissa McCranie (Michael) and Miranda Bush (David), both of Eastman, GA; Son – Spence Barron (Amy) of Eastman, GA; Step-Daughters – Kimberly Adler of Greenville, NC and Kellie Robertson of Lyons, GA; Grandchildren – Sarah Barron, Jacob Barron, Jordan Morgan, Tanner Morgan, Madison Jessup (John Barclay), McKenna McCranie, Hannah Grace McCranie, Gunnar Rogers (Leslie), Sailor Rogers (Chance Pittman), Tucker Rogers (Abbie Sanders), and Peyton Bush; Great-Grandson – John Michael Jessup; Step-Grandchildren – Jakob Robertson, Aaron Robertson, and Ethan Robetson; Mother – Beatrice Harrell Barron McCranie of Rhine, GA; Sister – Dale Rogers of Eastman, GA; Brother – Ronny Barron (Donna) of Milan, GA; Several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

 The family may be contacted at the residence of Miranda and David Bush, 1156 Lovely Grove Church Rd., Eastman, GA, and will receive friends in Rhine Baptist Church from 10:00AM-11:00AM Thursday, May 30. In addition to flowers, the family request contributions to Rhine Baptist Church, 92 East St, Rhine, GA 31077.
