Betty Laverne Johnston, 84, of Stockbridge, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 2, 2025. She was born in Eastman, GA, to the late Lucia and Edna Knight. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest Sargent and Dennis J. Johnston; and multiple siblings.

Betty Laverne Johnston, 84, of Stockbridge, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 2, 2025. She was born in Eastman, GA, to the late Lucia and Edna Knight. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest Sargent and Dennis J. Johnston; and multiple siblings.

Betty was a woman of deep faith and a devoted member of Community Church of Praise. She found joy in flower and vegetable gardening, sports cars, and visiting Chick-Fil-A. She loved listening to gospel music and taking trips to the mountains. Above all, she was a proud and dedicated wife, mother, Nanny, sister, aunt, and friend to many.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Community Church of Praise, 3851 Union Church Rd, Stockbridge, GA 30281, with Pastor Ken Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens in Conyers. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Betty’s kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Her survivors include her children and their spouses, John Wayne and Jeanine Williams of Eastman, David Ernest and Tonya Sargent of Stockbridge; grandchildren and their spouses, Dee (Graham) Snyder of Eastman, Erica (Brett) Moore of Flovilla, Kristin Williams of Eastman, Emily Sargent of Austin, TX; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Snyder, Charleigh Snyder, Parker Moore, Paisley Moore; nieces and their spouses, Debra (Dick) Ankeny, Lisa (Eddie) Cash; along with step-children, Kim (Steve) Pettit of Ellijay, Jimmy (Tahnee) Johnston of Birmingham, and Kristye (Taylor) Gunter of Birmingham; step-grandchildren, Eli Pettit, Sarah Pettit and Skyler Johnston.
