Obituary for Betty Jo May

MRS. BETTY JO JOLLEY MAY, age 81, of Eastman, GA, died Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Dodge County Hospital.

 A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00PM Wednesday, December 18, at Antioch #1 Baptist Church, with Rev. Mack Pitts officiating.

 Betty Jo was born in Waycross, GA on July 18, 1943. She was raised in Ware County and later graduated from Ware County High School in 1962. After high school, she worked as a detective for Wackenhut Security Company in St. Mary’s, GA for a couple of years. She was blessed with her children and became a stay-at-home mom, raising and tending to her children. She and her family moved to Eastman in 1988. She worked at Haynes Shirt Factory for a few years and later worked as a floral designer for Martha Sheldon Florist. Betty Jo loved taking care of and arranging flowers. She loved traveling with her husband back to his home in Lake Ozark, MO, going fishing, collecting things, especially antique salt dishes, and most of all, spending time with her precious granddaughter. Betty Jo was the daughter of the late Edith Wilson Jolley Pitts and Lonnie Arthur Jolley, and was preceded in death by her Step-Father, G.L. Pitts, Daughter, Machele May, and an Infant Son, Troy May.

 She is survived by her Husband of 60 years – Willard “Buzz” May of Eastman, GA; Son – Stacy May (Lori) of Eastman, GA; Granddaughter – Cali May of Jacksonville, FL; Sister – Claudie Lyons of Richmond Hill, GA; Brother – Ricky Pitts (Angela) of Hoboken, GA; Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law – Alice Jolley of Waycross, GA and John Hohman of Fernandina Beach, FL; Several Nieces and Nephews.
