MRS. BETTY JEAN BRYAN GIDDENS, age 80, of Eastman, GA, died Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, December 11, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Chuck Simpson and Mr. Wynnon Pittman officiating.
Betty Jean was a lifelong resident of Eastman, GA, a member of Hillside Baptist Church, attended Dodge County High School, and later received her GED when she was sixty years old. She worked for several companies over the years including Reeves Brothers, Inc., the Eastman Cotton Mill, C & J Manufacturing, and was a private sitter for the elderly for several years. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who enjoyed crocheting, writing and sending birthday cards to everyone she knew, watching westerns on T.V., and was affectionately called “Grandma” or “Big Granny” by her grandchildren. Betty Jean was the daughter of the late Francine Register Bryan and Alvin Ira Bryan, Sr., and was preceded in death by her Husband, Monroe Giddens, Brother, Alvin Ira “Buddy” Bryan, Jr., Sister, Peggy Joyce Bryan, and Son-in-law, Julius Peacock.
She is survived by her Daughter – Peggy P. Peacock (George Rainey) of Eastman, GA; Son – Wynnon Pittman (Heather) of Eastman, GA; Grandchildren – Benjamin “Ben” Evans (Krystina), Victoria Sanford, Monica Peacock (Katie), Josh Peacock (Sara), Kyle Peacock (Brooke), Kourtney Peacock Thigpen (Dustin), Brooke Peacock (Calan Brantley), Greg Pittman (Cameron Marchant), Gary Pittman (Jana), Gage Pittman (Chelby Payton), McKenzie Pittman, and Gunner Pittman; Numerous Great-Grandchildren; Sister – Miriam Bryan Moore of Augusta, GA; Several Nieces, Nephews, Great-Nieces, Great-Nephews, and Numerous Cousins.
The family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 10:00AM-11:00AM Wednesday, December 11. In addition to flowers, the family request contributions to the Refuge House for Ladies, 345 Pearl Bates Ave, Eastman, GA 31023.
