MRS. ALMA JEAN HODGE GIDDENS, age 84, of Eastman, GA, died Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, March 21, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Ricky Anderson officiating, with interment in Bowers Cemetery, in Cochran, GA.

 Alma Jean was born and raised in Eastman, GA, a member of Bible Baptist Church, and a retired employee of Lithonia Lighting Company. She was world famous for her cakes, especially her fourteen layer chocolate cakes. She loved her church, going to gospel sings, listening to old hymns, quilting, and feeding and watching hummingbirds. But most of all, she loved her grandchildren, who she would do anything for. Alma Jean was the daughter of the late Mary Jane West Hodge and Lewis Hodge and was preceded in death by her Husband, David Russell Giddens and her 3 Brothers, J.M. Hodge, Melvin Hodge, and Elmer “Buddy” Hodge.

 She is survived by her Daughter – Karen Fordham (Paul) of Eastman; Son – David Giddens (Karen) of Eastman; 4 Grandchildren – Sabrina Fordham of Dawsonville, Portia Fordham, Broc Giddens (Megan), both of Eastman, and Alex Giddens (Amber) of Newport News, VA; 8 Great-Grandchildren – Hunter Giddens, Kaeda Johnson, Layton Giddens, Kira Giddens, Brayden Giddens, Keagan Giddens, Wyatt Maginnis, and Kaiden Giddens; Sister – Juanita Peacock of Eastman; Several Nieces and Nephews.

 The family may be contacted at the residence of Karen and Paul Fordham, 45 Guy Tripp Drive, Eastman, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 1:00PM-2:00PM Tuesday, March 21.
