MR. DEWEY ALLEN PARRISH, age 78, of Fitzgerald, GA, died Saturday, February 25, 2023, at his residence.

Allen was born in Ocilla, GA and graduated from Irwin County High School in 1962. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Jackson, SC before later transferring to the U.S. Army reserves in Fitzgerald. After completing his military service, he married and went to work for CSX Railway as a conductor. Allen and his family moved to Rhine, GA in 1976 and he was a member of Vilula Baptist Church. He enjoyed a wonderful career with CSX that spanned over 26 years until his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and going fishing. Allen was the son of the late Lurene Davis Parrish and Ashley E. Parrish and was preceded in death by the love of his life, Betty Yancey Parrish, Son, Thomas Ellis Parrish, Brother, James Edward Parrish, and an Infant Sister.
He is survived by his Daughter – Kay Young Thornton (Ronnie) of Dudley; Son – Dwain Allen Parrish (Courtney) of Fitzgerald; 5 Grandchildren; Brother – Thomas William “Bill” Parrish (Brenda) of Bowens Mill, GA; Sisters-in-law and Brothers-in-law – Sue Yancey Roach of Rhine, Donald Yancey (Ann) of Dublin, Barbara Yancey of Byron, and Linda Parrish of Fitzgerald; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
The family has omitted all flowers, and would prefer donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.support.woundedwarriorproject.org, in honor of Allen.
